The Role
The Department for Academic Services provides a comprehensive and high-quality administrative service to applicants, students, colleagues and external stakeholders on behalf of the University of Portsmouth. The Faculty Administrative Support Services Section of Academic Services supports students and academic colleagues through a network of administrative offices.
The post holder will have responsibility for the administration of specific courses and modules. They will support the systems administration and working practices undertaken throughout the student journey, from registration through to graduation. The purpose of the role is to deliver effective and efficient administration, focussing on accuracy of data and the provision of professional and friendly support service.
Whilst there is a requirement to be in Portsmouth a few days each week, hybrid working is available for this role. The successful candidate will initially be required to work in the office five days per week, reducing to two days in the office and three days working from home once established in the role.
The interviews are currently anticipated to be held during the week commencing 27 July 2026.
There are two fixed-term opportunities available, both at 37 hours per week:
- One appointment until 25 April 2027
- One appointment until 30 June 2027

Salary Information
New appointments will routinely be made to the entry spine point (minimum) for the advertised grade, from where the individual will (in addition to receiving annual cost-of-living-related increases) progress through the pay range to the maximum for the grade, within a reasonable timeframe. This ensures fairness, consistency and transparency in our pay structures. A higher starting salary or market supplement may be available for a truly exceptional candidate when circumstances fully justify a departure from our normal policy.
