Frequently Asked Questions
Searching for jobs
How does search work?
Enter a job title or keyword in the first field and a city or region in the second, then click Search. You can also browse by city or category from the home page. The advanced search page lets you filter by category, salary, contract type, and remote availability.
What is the match score?
When you have a resume uploaded, every job listing shows a percentage match score. It compares your resume text against the job description using semantic similarity — so it picks up on related skills and experience, not just exact keyword matches. The higher the score, the closer the fit. Upload or update your resume to get scores.
Applying for jobs
How do I apply?
The application path depends on how the listing was posted:
- Easy Apply — jobs posted directly by employers on Workus use Easy Apply. Click the button, attach your resume, add an optional message, and submit. Your application goes straight to the employer's inbox on the platform.
- Email application — some listings have a contact email. Click Apply and we reveal the address so you can email the employer directly from your own mail client.
- External link — some listings link to the employer's own careers page. Click Apply to go there and complete their form.
Do I need an account to apply?
Yes. You need a registered candidate account to reveal application emails or use Easy Apply. You can browse all job listings without an account.
What is My Applications?
My Applications is a tracker that records every job you have applied to on the platform — Easy Apply submissions, email reveals, and external applies. Access it from your account menu. You can update the status of each application to track your progress through the hiring process.
Resumes
How do I upload a resume?
Click Post a Resume in the Candidates menu or from My Resumes. You can paste or type your resume text directly, or upload a PDF, DOC, or DOCX file. If you upload a file, the platform parses it automatically and fills in the form fields — you can then review and edit before saving.
Who can see my resume?
Only registered employers can search and view resumes. Your resume does not appear in public search engine results and is not accessible to guests or other candidates.
What is Featured Resume?
With Boost active, you can click Feature on any of your resumes to make it appear more prominently in employer resume search results. If you have more than one resume, you choose which one to feature. The featured status lasts for the duration of your 30-day Boost period.
How do I delete a resume?
Go to My Resumes, open the resume you want to remove, and click Delete. Deleting a resume removes it from employer search immediately. If the resume is linked to active job alerts, alerts will stop matching until you upload a new one.
AI tools
What AI tools are available?
Three AI tools are available to candidates, all powered by your uploaded resume:
- Cover Letter — generates a cover letter tailored to a specific job listing.
- Gap Analysis — identifies skills the job requires that your resume does not clearly demonstrate.
- Resume Rebuild — rewrites your resume text to be clearer and better structured.
Cover Letter is available individually (single purchase) or as part of Boost. Gap Analysis and Resume Rebuild require Boost.
What is Boost?
Boost is a 30-day one-time purchase that unlocks the full AI toolkit: unlimited Cover Letters (fair use: up to 15 per day), Gap Analysis, Resume Rebuild (up to 3 uses), Featured Resume in employer search, and ad-free browsing. It expires after 30 days regardless of how much you use.
How does Resume Rebuild work?
Go to My Resumes and click Rebuild next to a resume, or scroll to the bottom of the resume edit page. The AI rewrites your resume text in the background — this usually takes under a minute. When it's ready, you can preview the result and choose to Accept (which replaces your current resume text) or Discard (which leaves your resume unchanged). You have 3 rebuilds per Boost period.
How does Gap Analysis work?
On any job listing page, click Gap Analysis. The tool compares the job description against your uploaded resume and returns a list of skills or experience areas the role requires that your resume does not clearly cover. Use it to decide whether to tailor your application or skip the role.
Job alerts
How do job alerts work?
Job alerts match newly listed jobs against your uploaded resume using the same semantic matching behind the match score. When new roles are a strong enough match, we send them to you by email. You do not configure search terms — the alert is driven entirely by your resume.
How often are alerts sent?
Free accounts receive a weekly digest with up to 3 matching jobs. Boost subscribers receive daily alerts with up to 10 matching jobs.
How do I subscribe to alerts?
Log in as a candidate, make sure you have a resume uploaded, then look for the Job alerts widget on job listing pages or on My Resumes. One click to subscribe. You can only have one active alert subscription at a time.
How do I unsubscribe?
Every alert email includes a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also unsubscribe from My Resumes page.
For employers — posting jobs
How do I post a job?
Register as an employer, then go to Employer Plans and buy a posting pack. Once you have credits, go to My Jobs and click Post a job. Fill in the role details, location, salary, and application method, then publish. One credit is consumed per listing.
What posting packs are available?
Packs come in 1, 3, or 10 credits. All are one-time purchases — no subscription. See current prices on the posting plans page.
What is included in a posted listing?
- Featured placement — your listing appears above other listings in search results.
- Easy Apply — candidates apply directly on the platform; you receive applications in your inbox without needing to share a contact email.
- Applicant inbox — review and respond to all applications from your employer dashboard.
How long does a listing stay active?
Each listing is active for 30 days. You can renew it from My Jobs before or after it expires. Renewal consumes one credit from your pack.
For employers — claiming a listing
What is claiming?
If your company already has a listing on Workus, you can claim it to take ownership. Claiming is free. Once approved by our team, the listing converts to a direct posting under your account — with Easy Apply, an applicant inbox, and featured placement.
How do I claim a listing?
Find your company's listing in the job search, open it, and click Claim this listing. Submit your details and we will review the claim. You will receive an email when the claim is approved or rejected.
What happens while the claim is under review?
Your claim is marked as pending while our team verifies ownership. We aim to review claims within a few business days.
Billing & payments
Is there a subscription?
No. Every purchase on Workus is a one-time payment. There is no recurring billing and no auto-renewal. You pay when you need something and nothing is charged again unless you make another purchase.
What payment methods are accepted?
We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. Your card details are handled directly by Stripe and are never stored on our servers.
Do you offer refunds?
If you have an issue with a purchase, contact us and we will review it. Digital products that have already been used (cover letters generated, credits consumed) are generally non-refundable, but we handle cases individually.
How do promo codes work?
Promo codes can be entered at the Stripe checkout screen. They apply a discount to eligible products. If you have a code, enter it on the payment page before completing your purchase.
Privacy & data
What data does the platform store?
We store your account details (name, email, password hash), any resumes you upload, applications you submit, and a parsed version of your resume used for match scoring and alerts. AI call logs are kept for operational and debugging purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Is my resume processed by AI?
Yes. When you upload a resume file, it is sent to Cloudflare Workers AI for parsing — extracting structured data like your job title, skills, and experience. When you use Cover Letter, Gap Analysis, or Resume Rebuild features, relevant portions of your resume are sent to OpenAI for generation. PII (email addresses and phone numbers) is stripped before sending to generation models. Both providers process data under their respective privacy and data handling policies.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from the Danger Zone section of your profile settings. Deleting your account removes your personal data, resumes, and applications. Some anonymised records (such as aggregate analytics) may be retained.
