JSM Group Services Ltd.

Date: 2 weeks ago
City: Potters Bar, England
Contract type: Full time

ABOUT JSM

At JSM Group, we are a leading specialist infrastructure engineering company. We design and install the complex power networks, digital infrastructure and specialist systems a future-focused worldwide marketplace needs — from high-power grid connections to critical utilities, data centres to renewable energy.

From High-Power grid connections to Critical Utilities. Data Centres to Renewable Energy, our full turnkey solution teams manage the full scope to help advise and deliver complex infrastructure projects at speed, on time and with reduced legislation, technical and commercial risks.

ABOUT THE TEAM

You'll join our Streetworks & Permitting team, based at our head office in Potters Bar, supporting turnkey engineering design, installation and advisory work across Power and Digital Infrastructure. The team exists to keep essential works planned, permitted and delivered on time, working hand-in-hand with utilities, local authorities and clients on everything from unplanned faults to planned connections.

You'll work closely with local authorities, client representatives and JSM's operational teams, coordinating permits and works across multiple live projects. It's a fast-paced, detail-driven role — you'll be moving between permit systems, phone calls with councils and clients, and accurate recordkeeping day to day.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role exists to keep the business unit compliant with NRSWA, the Traffic Management Act 2004 and associated Permit Scheme regulations — taking ownership of streetworks permitting and the coordination of works, while maintaining accurate records of costs at every stage of the permit process.

Day to day, you will:

  • Open, close and coordinate Streetworks permits in line with DfT Street Manager
  • Liaise with local authorities, client representatives and JSM ops to coordinate works
  • Arrange and coordinate parking suspensions, bus stop suspensions, road closures, ban turns, lane rental and similar
  • Coordinate, administer and issue Section 50 licences, and report and administer Section 81 notices and defects
  • Analyse, mitigate and respond to Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), Section 74 charges and defects

This is an office-based role at our Potters Bar head office, with regular liaison with local authorities and site teams as part of the day-to-day coordination of works.

ABOUT YOU

You'll do well here if you recognise yourself in this:

  • You're hungry to grow and you take personal responsibility for your work and your development.
  • You're comfortable with complexity and you'd rather solve a hard technical problem than avoid it.
  • You work well across disciplines — you know good delivery depends on civil, power and digital teams pulling in the same direction.
  • You use sound judgment under pressure and you're straight with people about risk and programme.
  • You're confident and assertive when liaising with project managers, local authorities and clients, and you're a genuine team player who supports colleagues whenever needed.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Broad experience in utility and/or highway Streetworks permitting and coordination
  • Strong relationship-building with clients, local authorities, third parties and operational staff, both internal and external
  • Experience working proactively and accurately to strict deadlines and under pressure

Desirable

  • Experience with Symology Aurora
  • Experience with OneNetwork/Causeway
  • Experience/good knowledge and use of DfT Street Manager

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Comprehensive knowledge of NRSWA, TMA and associated Permit Schemes
  • PC literate, with a sound knowledge of MS Office and Streetworks permitting
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills

Desirable

  • Street Works accreditation
  • Traffic Management knowledge – Chapter 8/Red Book

If you meet most but not all of the above, we'd still like to hear from you. We'll look at what you've delivered and what you're capable of, not just the list.
