Tool Stores Operative

The Tool Stores Operative is responsible for ensuring that tooling and equipment owned by Exeter Aerospace and its customers are readily available and in a safe/serviceable condition for planned maintenance within the facility, developing a critical support role to the maintenance engineers ensuring maximum efficiency is maintained to support our customer base.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure required Tooling is available for planned maintenance and is controlled with regard to calibration and inspection dates.
- Maintain tool records as required by Part 145 requirements including but not limited to ensuring that the system of record for control of tooling is an accurately updated to reflect tooling status.
- Monitor tool compliance and serviceability through routine and non-routine inspections, audits and inventory checks.
- Work alongside Stores, Planning and Engineers to aid the planning and execution of maintenance inputs.
- Receive new tools into the organisation and load it into the computer management system.
- Help coordinate tool loan activity with relevant Customers
- Help with the preparation and shipping of loaned tools as required in order to support customer’s maintenance needs.
- Communicate with the Materials and Logistics Team Leader regarding methods to improve efficiency, such as bespoke tooling fabricated in house, design of kits for specific tasks, research of improved equipment released on the market.
- Assist in the procurement process of additional or replacement tools.
- Oversight and control of the tool stores.
- Liaise with contracted equipment Inspection Company to ensure LOLER and PUWER inspections are completed updated and a record of certification is maintained.
Core Competencies
- Candidate should be knowledgeable of industry and regulatory requirements as applicable to the control and management of tools.
- Current certificate in Counter Balance Forklift operation.
- Awareness of inventory management and procurement process.
- Ability to work on own initiative, be self-motivated and flexible in their approach to work.
- Ability to work under pressure both in a team and on their own.
- Strong communication and organisational skills both written and oral.
- Competent IT Skills – particularly DAL, Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- An appreciation of the importance of material supplies to the Exeter Aerospace operation.
