About the Role

TEXO Recruitment is supporting our client in the recruitment of an experienced Electrical Equipment Technician to join their team.

The role will involve the inspection, maintenance, repair and testing of a wide range of electrical equipment, including both customer-owned equipment and hire fleet assets.

You'll also be responsible for carrying out PAT testing and working with both standard and ATEX-rated electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair and test electrical equipment.
  • Disassemble equipment and inspect individual components.
  • Carry out portable appliance testing using PAT equipment.
  • Inspect, repair and function test non-ATEX equipment including:
  • Extension cables
  • Industrial transformers
  • Junction boxes
  • Flood lamps
  • Heaters
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Inspect and test ATEX-rated equipment, including extension cables, junction boxes, transformers and lighting.
  • Test and repair 3-phase equipment such as distribution units, transformers and heaters.
  • Inspect, repair, calibrate and function test welding equipment.
  • Complete job cards and equipment documentation accurately.
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with company HSSEQ procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Carry out other duties within your competence as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.
  • SVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in a similar electrical maintenance/testing role.
  • Good knowledge of electrical installation and maintenance practices.
  • Experience inspecting, repairing and testing electrical equipment.
  • Good understanding of electrical regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals and parts lists.

Desirable

  • CompEx qualification.
  • Experience working with ATEX-rated equipment.
  • Experience with 3-phase electrical equipment.
  • Experience testing and maintaining welding equipment.
  • Previous experience working within an equipment hire, workshop or industrial environment.
