VNI Finance has been retained by an established and growing international business to recruit a Head of Finance.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will lead the finance team and take ownership of the company’s financial reporting, controls, cash flow, working capital, budgeting and forecasting.

This is a broad, hands-on position offering significant exposure to the senior leadership team. The Head of Finance will provide the commercial insight required to support operational decisions, improve business performance and help shape the continued development of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop the finance team.
  • Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and budget-versus-actual analysis.
  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, working capital, treasury and currency exposure.
  • Develop management reporting, KPIs and performance insight.
  • Partner with Production, Trading, Logistics and Procurement.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins, profitability and operational performance.
  • Provide commercial advice and decision support to the Managing Director.
  • Maintain robust financial controls, compliance and risk-management processes.
  • Lead finance-system, ERP, automation and process-improvement projects.
  • Support investment appraisals, business cases and profitability reviews.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, banks and other external advisers.
  • Build a scalable finance function capable of supporting future growth.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate is likely to be a qualified accountant or an experienced finance leader who can demonstrate:

  • Experience leading a finance function or managing a finance team.
  • Strong financial-control, cash-flow and working-capital capability.
  • A commercially focused approach with the ability to turn financial information into practical business decisions.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and management-reporting experience.
  • Confidence working closely with operational teams and senior leadership.
  • A hands-on approach suited to an SME or medium-sized business.
  • Experience improving finance systems, reporting or business processes.
  • Strong communication, leadership and business-partnering skills.

Experience gained within manufacturing, engineering, or another operationally complex environment would be particularly advantageous. Exposure to ERP implementation, multi-currency operations, Sage or Power BI would also be beneficial.

  • Salary up to £65,000.
