Altera has a vacancy for an experienced Manager F&A to join our Finance & Accounting (F&A) team in Aberdeen, supporting the UK operations and wider business.

This is a new and exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the activities within the F&A team are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with company policies, laws and regulations, contractual requirements, and the Management System. They will develop, implement and maintain processes and procedures for accurate and timely analysis of financial data, ensuring best practice throughout.

This role will manage a team of Financial Analysts in the UK, providing support, training and being part of the team’s annual performance reviews for direct reports.

The role will drive the UK business’ financial performance, cost focus and outlook, ensuring all reporting meets the Business requirements.

Duties and responsibilities

General

  • Assist Operations, Commercial and Supply Chain departments as required. This includes, but not limited to, being involved in legal matters, negotiations, preparing supporting calculations, and quality check commercial solutions
  • Ensure effective delivery of financial and operational reporting for UK assets leveraging smart technology and data governance using Altera tools
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders involved in the accounting and reporting process to ensure effective delivery and alignment to technical and global accounting standards while proactively identifying accounting issues that require further analysis and consideration
  • Identify opportunities for improvement of tools and processes through automation and lean process capabilities
  • Conduct additional financial analysis, special projects and tasks, as assigned
  • Liaise and collaborate with various international offices, internal departments and accounting teams and external auditors

Statutory and tax

  • Coordinate the preparation of income tax provisions and tax/VAT filings for all UK companies
  • Manage the statutory audit process for all/operating audited companies in the UK and other jurisdictions as applicable
  • Complete the applicable finance related statistical reporting requirements for UK and other jurisdictions as applicable
  • Management of Oracle, Maestro and other data sources for statutory and tax reporting purposes
  • Timely reconciliation of Maestro / Other statutory and tax filing system vs Oracle

Accounting, Reporting, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Ensure all/operating UK companies trial balances are accurate and complete at all reporting periods.
  • Drive the UK operating companies’ annual budget and interim forecast updates by working with and supporting the Operations and F&A teams
  • Lead and complete all month/quarter-end close related responsibilities
  • Responsible for the preparation and presentation of monthly variance analysis and reporting for the UK business
  • Responsible for ensuring invoicing to UK customers is done in accordance with the contractual requirements
  • Ensure detailed Asset Reporting is prepared on a monthly basis tracking against forecasted results to identify significant variances, coding accuracy and cost overruns
  • Management and reporting of local office G&A including budgeting/forecasting and monthly variance analysis.
  • Ensure reporting to customers, management and government is done on a timely basis
  • Prepare financial reports, analysis vs actuals, budgets and forecasts as required
  • Prepare or review various schedules, account reconciliations and journal entries, including but not limited to, derivatives and hedge accounting, accruals, receivables, payables, foreign exchange, intercompany transactions, and tax as applicable

Internal Controls and Systems

  • Drive the maintenance of control policies in coordination with internal audit
  • Approver of invoicing to customers for UK (except where being the preparer of the basis for invoicing)
  • Performance of quarterly user access reviews, etc for Oracle as applicable

Experience / Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in the accounting field
  • Highly proficient in the use of accounting systems and reporting software (Excel, Oracle, FDW, Maestro and Workiva)
  • Experience from IFRS and UKGAAP
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and develop an F&A team
  • High level of integrity and able to take accountability for their own deliverables and see them through to the end
  • Strong stakeholder management experience
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA or similar) is essential
