We are currently recruiting for a CCTV Public Space Surveillance Operator to join our team and work alongside partners including the Police, National Crime Agency (NCA), DWP and other investigatory bodies to help keep our communities safe.
As a CCTV Public Space Surveillance Operator, you will be responsible for monitoring real-time CCTV, identifying and responding to incidents, directing officers via radio and ensuring that high-quality evidential footage is captured and securely recorded.
Essential Requirements
Please ensure you meet the following requirements before applying:
- Due to police vetting requirements, applicants must have continuously resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
- All applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.
- All applicants must hold a valid SIA CCTV Public Space Surveillance Licence.
Unfortunately, applications from candidates who do not meet these requirements will not be progressed.
Shfits
This is a 12-hour shift-based position involving a mixture of day and night shifts:
- Day shifts: 7:00am – 7:00pm
- Night shifts: 7:00pm – 7:00am
- The role operates on a shift pattern, with flexibility to work nights and weekends being essential.
Key Responsibilities
You will be working within a busy CCTV control room environment, using your skills and judgement to monitor public spaces, identify incidents and provide information and support to officers and external agencies.
- Monitor live CCTV footage and identify suspicious or unusual activity.
- Operate CCTV cameras and associated equipment effectively to obtain clear, high-quality evidential footage.
- Monitor incidents in real time and direct frontline officers to incidents via radio.
- Accurately record incidents, observations and actions taken.
- Produce clear and accurate reports and witness statements.
- Secure and maintain CCTV evidence in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Liaise confidently with internal and external agencies, including the Police, DWP, National Crime Agency and other investigatory bodies.
- Provide CCTV evidence and attend court where required to give evidence in support of recorded footage.
- Maintain a professional approach and ensure all information is handled appropriately and confidentially.
What We're Looking For
- A valid SIA CCTV Public Space Surveillance Licence – essential.
- A full UK driving licence – essential.
- Continuous UK residency for the last 5 years – essential due to police vetting requirements.
- Previous CCTV or control room experience is desirable but full training will be provided.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to remain calm and focused when dealing with incidents.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to accurately record information.
- The ability to produce clear and concise written reports.
- Confidence using CCTV systems, radios and other control room equipment.
- A professional approach to dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
- Flexibility to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends.
Successful candidates will be required to undergo Metropolitan Police vetting to NPPV3/SC (High Level) standard.
New starters will also be subject to appropriate clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
