Lifting Equipment Inspector
Oceaneering
Purpose
Perform thorough examinations of cranes and lifting equipment in accordance with applicable legislative standards, company procedures and client procedures where applicable. The competent Inspector shall have the practical & theoretical knowledge to perform thorough examination of lifting equipment and have the ability to identify defects / weaknesses and assess their importance in relation to the safety and continued use of the equipment.
Functions
- Inspection & thorough examination of lifting equipment accordance with statutory requirements, Oceaneering operating procedures and client specifications / requirements
- Make decisions for inspection results within the limits of their competence
- Liaise with client focal point & onshore management as required
- Work within and operate Oceaneering documented procedures and database in a capable manner
- Ensure inspection is carried out within the parameters of the applicable specification
- Produce a clear and concise report detailing the methods used, results of the inspection, and all findings noting any limitations / test restrictions as applicable
- Carry out work in a timely and efficient manner to meet deadlines, changing priorities when the situation requires
- Provide feedback or improvement suggestions for C&L process and procedures
- Assist on-site monitoring and development of inspection personnel
- Assist with Peer assessment of personnel. (within approved knowledge / competence scopes)
- Identify training / competency requirements and support ongoing workforce development
- Carry out all work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems
- Support HSE audits, assessments, incident investigations, and the close-out of corrective actions and improvement actions
- The list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake tasks that may reasonably be expected within the scope of the post.
Required
- OGUK Medical
- Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST)
- Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET)
- Compressed Air Emergency Breathing System (CAEBS)
- Bi-Deltoid Shoulder Measurement
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in lifting equipment examination scopes
- LEEA Foundation Course
- IRATA Rope Access Level 1
- MPI – SNT or PCN Level 2
- Eye Test
- Flexible approach, team player with strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Confident in written and spoken English
- IT literate with good understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio etc.)
Note: Alternative qualifications may be accepted upon review by the C&L Technical / Deputy Technical Manager
Desired
- LEEA Diploma qualification(s) or equivalents
- Professionally Registered for Engineering Technician
- Crane Inspection Trained
- Proficient in the use of Motion Kinetic software.
- Knowledge of various other Non Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques·
- Knowledge of legislation, standards, codes of practice and guidance application to inspection scopes.
- Ability to detect and categorise defects, types of defects, defect acceptance criteria, and knowledge of failure modes within their capability and competence.
- Making decisions within the limits of own competence with the maturity to seek advice and technical support, as required.
Note: lesser qualifications may be accepted provided exceptional experience can be demonstrated.
