About the role
At PwC, our Capital Projects Risk & Control team typically reports to the CFO, Commercial leads, Head of Assurance, or Internal Audit to provide independent challenge across project delivery, commercial performance and third-party relationships, helping clients improve outcomes, reduce risk and protect value.
Our team brings together accountants, commercial specialists, project professionals, engineers and data specialists to deliver programme assurance, commercial assurance, commercial strategy and deal support, contract optimisation, supplier performance improvement and technology-enabled solutions across some of the UK's largest infrastructure investments.

You will work on nationally significant projects and programmes across sectors including central government, energy and utilities, transport, defence and health, helping clients address complex challenges and deliver meaningful outcomes. The role offers exposure to senior stakeholders, including CFOs, Programme Directors and Audit Committees, while enabling you to build a unique blend of accounting, commercial, project assurance and technology-enabled delivery skills. What your days will look like
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
Delivering workstreams and managing day-to-day delivery within larger client engagements, including stakeholder management, coaching junior team members and report writing. Working with senior client stakeholders to understand project, commercial and governance challenges and develop practical recommendations.
Analysing commercial, financial and project data to identify trends, risks, control weaknesses and opportunities to improve performance. Preparing high quality reports and presenting findings clearly to clients.
Supporting reviews across the lifecycle of major capital programmes, including governance, project controls, commercial arrangements, supplier performance and delivery confidence. Supporting commercial assurance reviews, including supplier cost assurance, contract compliance, commercial performance and value optimisation.
Working with our technology and data specialists to embed analytics, automation and Generative AI into the way we deliver projects. Supporting business development, proposition development and thought leadership activities.
This role is for you if
We are looking for individuals who have previous experience of:
Audit experience and/or a chartered accountant with analytical skills , with ACA (or international equivalent) qualification
Strong curiosity and the ability to understand how organisations operate and where value or risk may exist. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Strong written communication with the ability to produce high-quality client reports.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Interest in AI, automation and data-enabled ways of working.
Emotional intelligence with an ability to navigate cultural nuances
An interest in major infrastructure, capital projects or commercial performance, with a willingness to develop expertise in these areas.
