Apprentice Auto Technician Halfords Autocentre Inverness

Join Halfords as an Apprentice Auto Technician and gain hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification with GTG Training.

About The Role

Based in our Inverness Autocentre, you'll work alongside experienced technicians, learning how to inspect, service, maintain, diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles. No two days are the same, with exposure to modern technologies, diagnostics and complex vehicle repairs.

We're looking for enthusiastic individuals with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in building a career in the motor industry.

Working Hours

  • 5-day working week
  • 40 hours (under 18s) / 44 hours (18+)
  • Autocentre opening hours: 8:00am to 6:00pm

Training & Qualifications

You'll work towards:

  • SCQF Level 5 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Opportunity to progress to SCQF Level 7 after two years

Training includes workplace safety, vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and electrical systems, supported by dedicated GTG and Halfords mentors.

Qualifications

Entry Requirements

  • National 4 (or above) in Maths, English and a Science or Technical subject (or equivalent)

  • Passion for vehicles and mechanical work
  • Practical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork
  • Organised with good attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills
  • Customer-focused approach
