About the Role

TEXO Recruitment is supporting our client in the recruitment of a Mechanical Equipment Technician to join their Aberdeen team.

This is a hands-on workshop role involving the inspection, maintenance, fault finding, repair and testing of mechanical, pneumatic and diesel-powered equipment.

You'll work on a wide range of equipment, from hand tools and pumps through to HP/UHP jetting units, compressors and diesel-driven machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, test and repair mechanical and diesel-powered equipment.
  • Strip, diagnose and repair equipment including paint pumps, transfer pumps, blast pots, needle guns, mag drills, bristle blasters and grinders.
  • Maintain and repair HP/UHP jetting units, air compressors and pumps.
  • Carry out routine equipment inspections and report defects.
  • Complete job cards, inspection records and test certificates.
  • Read equipment manuals and parts lists.
  • Carry out testing following repairs and maintenance.
  • Support portable appliance testing where trained.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and workshop standards.
  • Follow all QHSE procedures, Risk Assessments and COSHH requirements.

Requirements

Essential

  • SCQF Level 7 Modern Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a mechanical maintenance or equipment repair role.
  • Strong mechanical and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience with pneumatic and diesel-powered equipment.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals and parts lists.
  • Good attention to detail and quality of workmanship.

Relevant practical experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.

Desirable

  • Experience with HP/UHP jetting equipment, compressors and pumps.
  • Water Jetting qualification or WJA membership.
  • Experience within oil & gas, energy, industrial services or equipment hire.
