THE DIFFERENCE YOU MAKE

We are seeking a dynamic and influential Senior Business Manager to join the Consumer Lending division, comprised of our Mortgage (‘Homes’) and UPL business.

As Business Manager, you’ll act as a trusted business partner to the ExCo member and form an integral part of the leadership team. This is a strategic and fast-paced position offering exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence priorities and operations at a divisional level.

The role is central to shaping and delivering the strategic agenda for the business. You’ll provide insight and constructive challenge across strategic planning, governance, board and committee reporting, performance, people, resource and budget management, while helping drive transformation and regulatory change.

As a Senior Business Manager, you will report into the ExCo, Head of Consumer Lending directly. The division consists of circa 1,000 colleagues who help our customers and intermediaries achieve their goals.

We’re shaping the way we work through innovation, cutting-edge technology, collaboration and the freedom to explore new ideas. To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Partner with the ExCo member and wider leadership team, translating strategic priorities into delivery and providing trusted insight and constructive challenge to support executive decision-making.

  • Support Finance in tracking and reporting the Divisional FTE, demand forcasting activities and budget management.

  • Contribute to the function’s long-term (3-5 year) plan and target operating model, helping ensure divisional priorities are clear, aligned and deliverable.

  • Strengthen the governance and control environment across Consumer Lending, with clear ownership, escalation and proactive management of risk, regulatory and compliance obligations.

  • Lead the development of performance frameworks, board and committee reporting, management information and analysis to support strategic and operational decisions.

  • Manage and deliver projects and programmes linked to the transformation and regulatory change agenda, contributing as a subject matter expert to cross-functional and bank-wide initiatives.

  • Build strong relationships across Consumer Lending and the wider bank, influencing outcomes without direct authority while coaching colleagues and fostering collaboration, new ideas and agile ways of working.

  • Represent Consumer Lending in cross-divisional forums, influencing senior stakeholders enterprise-wide.

  • Manage the operating rhythm and content for the leadership team and being an active voice and participant at the leadership table.

  • Broad knowledge of Financial Services industry and competitor and industry trends.

  • Strong understanding of the company, its products, processes and governance.

  • Strong understanding of current strategic agenda of San UK, its business model and financial drivers.

  • Ability to think strategically and creatively in order to continually drive operational excellence.

  • Strong relationship builder with ability to build successful business relationships with stakeholders at all levels, working with strategic partners at most senior levels.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Uses all available channels and mechanisms to effectively to communicate to all employees across the bank.

  • Ability to create compelling exhibits and content in Power Point and Word to support communication of DAC plans and priorities.

  • Comfort with business financials and numbers – with the ability to interpret key takeaways.

  • Experience leading process improvement, transformation or large-scale project delivery, alongside performance management, budget and resource planning.

  • Strategic ownership and planning, target operating model development, performance management and the production of insightful MI and analysis.

  • Strong knowledge of governance, risk, regulatory and compliance frameworks, including issue identification, remediation and escalation.

  • Budget planning and forecasting, FTE and demand forecasting, and project/programme management. (Required)

  • Strong influencing and relationship-management skills, including the ability to operate effectively at ExCo level. (Required)

  • Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to think strategically and creatively to drive operational excellence. (Required)

  • Value-add leadership beyond logistics, bringing insight and institutional knowledge, adapting and stepping up where direction is needed.

Salary Range

£68,662.00 - £102,994.00

This salary range represents the expected remuneration for the role. Annual salary is based on a standard 35-hour working week. Actual salary offered will depend on skills, experience, qualifications and location.
