Job Title: Research Analyst, QEP Investment Team
Location: London
Reporting to: Co-Head of Research, QEP
Overview of the role
This role has the following principal responsibilities:
- Contribute to the ongoing development and progress of QEP investment process
- Support the team on investment data, including research and interpretation to recommend investable insights.
- Collaborate within the team and Schroders investment teams on value-add projects
Schroders is a global investment manager which provides active asset management, wealth management and investment solutions. We aim to provide excellent investment performance to clients through active management. We serve a diverse client base that includes pension schemes, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, foundations, high net worth individuals, family offices, as well as end clients through partnerships with distributors, financial advisers, and online platforms.
Established in 1804, we have around 5,500 people across 36 global locations. Schroders' success can be attributed to its diversified business model, spanning different asset classes, client types and geographies.
The base
We moved into our new HQ in the City of London in 2018. We're close to our clients, in the heart of the UK's financial centre. And we have everything we need to work flexibly.
What you'll do
Contributing to the enhancement of investment process
Lead research projects under the guidance of senior members of the team to better reflect risks and opportunities in our investment process
Analyse a broad range of data, including structured and unstructured data, and translate it into investment insights by improving our assessment of valuation, business quality or sentiment for our investment universe
Supporting the team on investment research
Work closely with researchers and portfolio managers to refine our existing investment and research processes in response to business and client needs
Manage and monitor investment data and its impact to our holdings, providing support to the rest of investment team including portfolio managers
Collaboration
Produce and present well considered research findings and proposals throughout a project and incorporate feedback from other team members.
Build relationships and seek collaboration opportunities with other investment, distribution, product, trading and technology teams
The knowledge, experience and qualifications you need
Higher education degree level, preferably in a numeric field
Professional experience from equity markets
Knowledge of portfolio management and the asset management industry
Knowledge of any programming language is preferred
Knowledge of equity factors and modelling techniques
Knowledge of equity markets and fundamental company analysis
Knowledge of and ability to work with equity market data
Knowledge of statistical techniques to gain scalable insights from data

Discharge of responsibilities
The role holder shall ensure that all their responsibilities are performed to the highest levels of integrity, quality and transparency and in a manner most likely to promote the success of the Schroders Group, taking into account the interests of key stakeholders including clients, employees, regulators, suppliers and society as a whole.
In discharging their responsibilities, the individual shall establish appropriate oversight and control structures for all areas under their control where needed.
Reporting Obligations
In discharging their responsibilities, the role holder shall
- Ensure that their manager is made aware of any issues which the post holder deems material
- Provide to their manager, an annual assessment of their own performance against objectives agreed with them
Committee Memberships
- Where applicable, the role holder must fulfil his/her responsibilities for their Committee Memberships
Conduct Rules
This role is within an entity/or entities which are covered by the UK’s Senior Manager and Certification Regime. As such, the role holder is required to comply with the following Individual Conduct Rules:

Appendix: QEP Investment Team
The QEP Investment Team consists of 28 member, located in London, Sydney, Hong Kong and New York. The QEP Team manages $27 bn across a range of global equity strategies, including dedicated EM strategies.
The team is organised across three key functions:
The portfolio management & research team is principally located in London with additional team members based in Sydney and Hong Kong. Its members are responsible for researching new ideas, enhancing existing models and making investment decisions.
The portfolio implementation team is based in London and is responsible for day-to-day monitoring of client portfolios, implementing portfolio managers' investment decisions and managing cashflows.
Our dedicated product management team is located in London, Sydney and New York and are specialists in all aspects of our investment process enabling the investment team to focus on research and the management of our client’s assets.
