Are you passionate about inspiring learners and making a real difference in English education? We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic English Lecturer to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to engage and support learners across a range of further education courses, helping them to achieve their full potential while contributing to the development of an innovative and supportive curriculum.

About The Role

As an English Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality teaching across a range of programmes, delivering sessions for GCSE resit or Functional Skills English Entry-Level 1, supporting students with diverse needs to succeed in their studies. You will contribute to curriculum development, course leadership and quality assurance, using your subject expertise to create engaging learning experiences. Alongside teaching, you will support students through mentoring and assessment, ensuring progress is tracked and achievements are recognised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and assess engaging English lessons across further education provision
  • Develop and adapt curriculum materials to support high-quality teaching and learning
  • Monitor and track learner progress, providing timely feedback and support
  • Contribute to course leadership, quality assurance and curriculum development activities
  • Support student recruitment, retention and achievement across programmes
  • Manage the classroom environment to ensure a safe, inclusive and productive learning space
  • Provide guidance, coaching and pastoral support to learners to help them succeed
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective programme delivery and continuous improvement

Essential Criteria

  • Hold a Level 5 teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one)
  • Relevant degree or recognised qualification in English or a related subject
  • Experience of teaching or training within further education or a similar setting
  • Strong understanding of GCSE English delivery and effective teaching methods
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners, supporting a wide range of needs and abilities
  • Experience within Functional Skills English

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience delivering Functional Skills English (Entry Level to Level 2)
  • Experience teaching GCSE resit learners in a further education setting
  • Experience supporting learners with additional needs or barriers to learning

Let’s Teach The LET’s teach programme supports new members of teaching staff in terms of college systems and key teaching and learning areas including new staff lesson visits and postcard peeps. Each new member of staff has an allocated Lead Practitioner who works closely with them throughout the programme.

Let’s Bloom

The LET’s Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one year programme, working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team, capturing their experimentation in a journal.
