Solutions Designer - Critical Technology

We are seeking an experienced Solution Designer to translate business requirements into innovative, secure and scalable technology solutions that support the University's strategic objectives. This role will specialise in infrastructure, networks and cyber security, joining a new team of Solution Designers who will develop our architecture function across systems and critical technology.
Reporting to the Delivery Partner, Student & Academic, you will work closely with stakeholders, developers and infrastructure teams to design and deliver integrated solutions across a complex technology landscape. This role is critical in ensuring solutions are fit for purpose, aligned with architectural standards, and capable of meeting the evolving needs of students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end technology solutions that align with business and strategic objectives.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and specifications.
- Develop and maintain solution architecture documentation, standards and blueprints.
- Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, resilient and integrated with existing systems.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle, from concept through to implementation.
- Collaborate with developers, infrastructure specialists and delivery teams to ensure successful delivery.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend appropriate tools and platforms.
- Conduct risk assessments and support the development of mitigation strategies.
- Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements and validate solution approaches.
- Support Agile delivery and promote continuous improvement and innovation.
About You
You will be a collaborative and technically strong Solution Designer with experience designing complex IT solutions in large, diverse organisations. With a strong background in infrastructure, cloud and network technologies, you will be able to translate business requirements into secure, scalable and integrated solutions. You'll have excellent stakeholder management, communication and documentation skills, a solid understanding of enterprise architecture, system integration and technical governance, and experience working within Agile delivery environments.
You'll be confident evaluating technologies, making recommendations that support business outcomes, and working effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience within higher education or other complex organisations, together
This role will be located at Leeds Trinity University campus in Horsforth. Through our agile working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely and at our city centre campus, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.
