Business Intelligence Analyst

Help turn data into real improvement

NHS Highland is establishing HIVE (Highland Improvement, Value & Efficiency) - a new, dedicated function focused on delivering real, measurable improvements in how services work and how resources are used.

We are looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst to support this work by turning data into meaningful insight that drives action.

This role goes beyond reporting - it is about helping services understand their data, identify opportunities, and support delivery of value and efficiency improvements across the organisation.

The Role

As Part Of HIVE, You Will

• Analyse and interpret complex datasets to support service improvement and performance
• Develop dashboards and reports that enable clear, informed decision-making
• Work directly with clinical, operational and corporate teams to understand their data needs
• Identify variation, inefficiencies and opportunities through data-led analysis
• Contribute to a pipeline of improvement ideas based on evidence, not assumptions
• Ensure data quality, accuracy and consistency across reporting outputs

You will be part of a wider HIVE model where data, frontline insight and delivery expertise come together to drive change.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from:

• Experienced analysts or
• Recent graduates with relevant qualifications in areas such as data analytics, statistics, informatics, or a related discipline

You do not need to come from an NHS background - what matters is your ability to work with data and turn it into insight people can use.

We’re Particularly Interested In Individuals Who

• Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Can clearly explain data to non-technical audiences
• Are curious, proactive and willing to challenge and explore data in depth
• Want to apply their skills to real-world service improvement
• Are comfortable working collaboratively across teams

What you’ll bring

• A degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant subject area, or demonstrable experience in data analysis
• Experience using tools such as Excel, BI platforms or statistical software
• Ability to work with complex datasets and produce meaningful outputs
• Strong communication and organisational skills
