The School Nursing Team belong to the Enfield 0-19 Children’s Community Service. The Service is commissioned by the Local Authority (Public Health) and sits within North Middlesex University NHS Trust, and is based at The Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield. There are good public transport links and Enfield is served by trains to Enfield Town (Overground) 6 minutes’ walk and Enfield Chase (Great Northern Services) 15 minutes’ walk.

There is one School Nursing Team delivering “The Healthy Child Programme”, and the teams consist of School Nurses, Early Years’ Practitioners and an NCMP Co-ordinator. Partnership working is very important to ensure our children and young people receive the best outcomes, and we work closely with GP’s and other health professionals along with children’s social care, early help, early years, children centres and voluntary organisations.

The post holder will be a qualified School Nurse. To work as part of a team delivering the Healthy Child Programme (HCP) to the school aged population in Enfield. The School Nurse will work in partnership with Children and Young Peoples team, service users, professional networks and stakeholders to provide Commissioned Services to meet Key Performance Indicators. Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to- date skills and adhering to evidence based policies and procedures.

  • To work in partnership with team members, service users and all stake holders in promoting the health and well-being of Children, Young People aged 5-19 years and their families. This will be achieved through effective delegation, work load management, monitoring of care standards, leadership and the performance management of team members.
  • To identify and monitor health needs of a given population using profiling tools and facilitate the implementation of evidence based care. The practitioner will work in line with the Healthy Child Programme and all policies that promote and safeguard children 5-19 years and their families.
  • To manage and prioritise workload according to the identified health needs within a defined caseload ensuring the effective use of resources.
