Paralegal(x 2)– Public Law & Human Rights department

We are seeking to recruit two paralegals within our Public Law & Human Rights Department. Each role will support up to three qualified lawyers in a team that comprises five partners, eight associate and ten solicitors. The team’s work includes a wide range of judicial review and general public law work, as well some planning and environmental cases.

The experience gained in this role will constitute “Qualifying Work Experience” for those qualifying through the SQE route and there is likely to be an opportunity to progress to a Training Contract for those qualifying through the LPC route after 12 months.

Overview of key responsibilities

The role will consist of handling new enquiries, assisting fee earners with case preparation, file administration, preparing and managing funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency, undertaking legal research, preparing draft documents including witness statements and schedules, drafting aspects of advice, processing evidence, preparing, collating and ordering documentation, attending conferences with clients and counsel and attending court hearings.

You will need to be highly motivated, proactive, enthusiastic, have excellent writing, communication, organisational and administrative skills, the ability to undertake research, process and analyse complex information, a flexible and professional attitude, an ability to work on confidential matters and under pressure together with a keen eye for detail.

You will also need to be interested and engaged with the public law and human rights work the team specialises in and committed to providing a high standard of service to our clients, many of whom are vulnerable. You may demonstrate these qualities, for example, through academic studies, legal or advice work or other work helping people enforce rights or supporting them or a combination of these things.”
