Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic
Lifting Operations Manager to contribute to our Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
Role Purpose: To lead and manage a team of lifting operations personnel on all sites associated with Balfour Beatty’s NZT project. This will include recruitment of human resource and procurement of lifting equipment required to undertake lifting operations safely and efficiently.
Working under the direction and instruction of the construction directors, senior project
managers, construction and works managers to ensure lifting operations are planned and executed in line with the works program and in compliance with Balfour Beatty standards and with current legislation.
What you'll be doing
- Ensuring all Lifting Operations are fully planned, managed and safely executed
- Ensuring the sites lifting operations fully comply with legislation, British standards and
the client’s Lifting Standards
- Ensuring all personnel within your team are fully trained and competent in line with
legislation and project Lifting Standards
- Ensuring all lifting equipment and accessories are maintained, thoroughly examined
and inspected within the regulated periods
- Promoting Safe Lifting Operations on the Project, leading the lifting teams, utilising
existing industry best practice and implementing new safety innovations to improve
Lifting Safety
- Timely and accurate recording of information and provision of any requested
information to the Client Lifting Manager and BB senior leadership team
- Supporting in lifting related accident/incident investigations, and reporting to BB senior
leadership team Client Lifting Manager in a timely manner
- Chair and lead lifting meetings, best practice steering group meetings and any other
meetings as requested by project director
- Ensuring your team is kept informed of relevant changes in legislation, ACOPs and
industry best practice
- Overall responsibility for all Lifting Operations carried out by the Appointed Persons,
Superintendents and supervisors within your team
Who we're looking for
- Appointed Person qualified and certified (CPCS Blue card A61) with practical/theoretical knowledge of project requirements and legislation (mandatory)
- Understanding of relevant information including LOLER, PUWER, BS7121 and WAHR
(mandatory)
- Efficient in the use of Microsoft programmes word, excel and outlook (mandatory)
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme and or other relevant health and safety qualification
- Management qualification (desirable)
- Experience of one or more of the following would be advantageous ‘Liccon’, ‘autocad’,
- Be confident and able to deliver briefings on lifting operations to the lift team and present to senior management and the principal contract in relation to lifting operations requirements and performance
- Be confident and able to deliver coaching and mentoring to lifting team members under your control
- Experience of incident investigation and application of corrective actions to improve
performance and drive safety standards
