We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Surgical Pharmacist to join our Surgical Pharmacy team. This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist who is keen to develop a career in surgical pharmacy, build specialist clinical knowledge, and gain experience as a directorate pharmacist within a supportive and forward-thinking pharmacy service.

This post is based in Willam Harvey Hospital. You will provide clinical pharmacy services across a range of surgical specialties. Please find attached Job description.

You will work as part of a well-established multidisciplinary team and attending consultant-led ward rounds to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Advanced Pharmacist , rotational pharmacists, and dedicated surgical pharmacy technicians, benefiting from excellent peer support and opportunities for professional development.

Our surgical services include Major Trauma, Orthopaedics, MaxFax, General Surgery, ENT and Ophthalmology, offering exposure to a broad range of specialist clinical areas and excellent opportunities to develop advanced clinical practice.

  • To provide clinical pharmacy services to the Surgical wards.
  • Ensure the clinical services provided are of a high standard and that medication are clinically screened in a timely manner.
  • To develop effective working relationships, to challenge and to prioritise your own work as well of the work of the team.
  • To support junior staff in the department.
  • To take full part in clinical/dispensary rota, weekend rota and bank holiday duties.
  • To take part in the support of pharmacy out-of-hours service (first on-call duties).
  • Appropriately manage difficult and ambiguous problems.
  • To demonstrate expert knowledge in the clinical speciality, delivering a service in accordance with the priorities set by the Chief Pharmacist and the Trust agreed standards including.
  • Demonstrate an advanced level of clinical reasoning and judgement.
  • Demonstrate an intuitive grasp of situations.
  • To assist in providing a specialist pharmaceutical service to tertiary services including the provision of education and training, procedures, protocols and medicines usage information.
  • To provide leadership and directorate/service support roles to surgery department.
