Would you like to work as an Examination Invigilator for the University of Southampton during the 2026/27 academic year and beyond?

We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and reliable individuals who are seeking flexible work that can fit around other commitments.

University examinations take place during January, May/June and August, and invigilators play a vital role in ensuring examinations run smoothly and fairly while supporting students throughout the assessment process.

Full training and support will be provided before any invigilation duties are undertaken.

Invigilators must be

  • Reliable, professional and punctual
  • Confident communicators with a clear speaking voice
  • Able to explain procedures and regulations calmly and clearly
  • Firm, fair and approachable when interacting with students
  • Comfortable following policies and procedures consistently
  • Respectful and supportive towards students and colleagues

We see the role as a balance between maintaining academic integrity and supporting student wellbeing. Successful candidates will demonstrate professionalism, good judgement and a commitment to providing a positive experience for all students.

You must complete all required online training modules before undertaking invigilation duties. Ongoing support will be provided through your induction, team leaders and the wider invigilation team.
