An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a Technical Unit Support Officer in the Criminal Investigation Department.

About The Role

As part of a small team, you will deliver specialist support and technical assistance within covert and overt surveillance operations throughout the Dyfed Powys Policing area.

The successful candidate will provide innovative technical support services to a wide variety of customers, capturing intelligence to progress an investigation or evidence to secure a conviction utilising of a wide range of technical assets. These will include imaging, audio, various electronic devices and IP networks in support of the proactive policing efforts within Dyfed Powys Police.

What you will be doing?

  • Complete site surveys, feasibility assessments, installation, maintenance and extraction of technical equipment according to tasking requirements and legal frameworks.
  • Carry out the installation, routine maintenance, repair, manufacture and modification of equipment including the construction of "hides" to camouflage and protect equipment, working under pressure in hostile environments, including working at height, confined spaces, darkness and inclement weather.
  • Recover Digital CCTV from 3rd party systems throughout the force area, in compliance with the Forensic Science Regulators Codes of Practice and NPCC Digital Imaging and Multimedia Procedure.

All candidates are subject to vetting and medical checks.

Interviews to be held between: 16th and 18th September 2026, which will also include two practical assessments a). Electrical wiring and b). IP Networking.
