Business Change Manager
Manchester Metropolitan University
Manchester Metropolitan University is a place of ambition, transformation and purpose. We are always looking at improving how we work, how we deliver for our students, and how the University can continue to thrive.
We are looking for a Business Change Manager who enjoys being at the heart of delivery. Someone who is enthusiastic about Change and Project Management.
Are you pragmatic and motivated by taking responsibility for strategic change and projects? Do you value the opportunity to work on a wide range of initiatives? Would you like to develop and apply different capabilities in your next role? Can you bring Change expertise alongside Project Management capability
About the role
This is a hands‑on role where you will be responsible for working with stakeholders to deliver excellent Business Change outcomes.
You will design and deliver clear, practical implementation strategies, assess change impacts, shape readiness plans, and support leaders through complex change. You will also help build change capability across the University by coaching colleagues, sharing good practice, and setting clear standards for what good looks like.
You can also expect to do the following:
- Take responsibility for benefits realisation
- Partner with leaders and teams to develop and deliver practical, joined‑up plans covering engagement, communications, readiness, transition and adoption
- Support leaders and teams through complex change
- support the management of projects end‑to‑end, including scope, plans, risks, dependencies and governance in a traditional or agile Project Management approach
- Engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
- Stay close to delivery, adapting plans, supporting people and removing obstacles as they arise
What we're looking for
We are keen to hear from people who:
- Are motivated and driven to deliver
- Are pragmatic change management practitioners who can champion the team's change management approach
- Enjoy taking ownership of outcomes and seeing work through from idea to business‑as‑usual
- Communicate clearly and with confidence
- Build trusted stakeholder relationships and work collaboratively
- Can coach teams and individuals through uncertainty and transition
- Plan in a joined‑up and disciplined way, aligning project delivery with change, communications, training and benefits
- Are comfortable flexing between change management and looking to develop skills in project management as well
Experience of managing projects, either formally or as part of change roles, will be an advantage. Experience of working in a large, matrixed organisation such as higher education or the public sector is helpful, but not essential. Would you like to know more? Feel free to get in touch.
