Advert Wording

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a focused, driven and proactive individual to join the Information Governance Team. As an Information Governance Assistant, you will be required to provide advice and guidance to colleagues across the council, in relation to all areas of information governance. The role requires a motivated individual who can work across a variety of different subject areas, ensuring that all legal requirements and statutory deadlines are adhered to.

Successful candidates will be expected to work across a range of information governance areas, including FOI & EIR, Data Subjects Rights (including the redaction of records) and supporting work within the Central Archive.

Areas of responsibility include

Providing specialist advice and guidance in relation to all aspects of information governance

Responding to queries and resolving issues and cases

Co-ordination of and responding to requests from the public (FOI, EIR, data subject’s rights etc.) within statutory timescales

Ensuring Council Records are catalogued and stored appropriately at the Central Archive

Working closely with officers in a range of services to develop and implement changes to support IG initiatives, standards and best practice

Carrying out minute taking responsibilities

This role allows for flexible working, between home and the office base at our archive facility.

It should be noted that this role can be physically demanding and will require you to work at height. Archive related duties will include moving boxes of records and using a cherry picker or moveable ladders to access higher shelving within the archive. Successful applicants may be required to undertake a health screening.

Working with data subjects’ rights requests will also require you to review and redact social care files and contain highly sensitive, confidential, and potentially distressing information. You would therefore need to consider your suitability for this role prior to applying.

Interview: 25th & 26th August 2026
