We’re looking for a skilled Mechanical Technician to support the maintenance and reliability of port infrastructure in Teignmouth. This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll work on a wide range of assets, helping to ensure safe and efficient port operations.
Shift pattern: The role operates on a rotating shift pattern of 06:00–14:30 and 08:30–17:00, with weekend availability required depending on operational and engineering demand.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carry out inspection, maintenance, fault diagnostics, and installation work in line with current legislation and company standards
- Maintain cranes, machinery, and port equipment
- Maintain port buildings, including transit sheds, offices, and workshop machinery
- Complete scheduled servicing and report defects
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Apprentice-trained Mechanical Fitter
- Experience in maintenance and breakdowns within heavy industry
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Flexible and proactive approach to work
- Full UK driving licence
- Experience or comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
Desirable
- Experience with port equipment (e.g. mobile cranes, loading shovels)
- Background in port or industrial engineering environments
