We are recruiting Senior Estates Surveyors to join our new Asset Disposals team within Strategic Property at Brighton & Hove City Council. You will play a key role in delivering a high-profile disposals programme, bringing professional expertise to maximise value and support the council’s financial and strategic priorities.

About the role

What you’ll be doing

• Lead on a varied caseload of complex land and property disposals within a multi-million-pound programme
• Provide professional advice on valuation, disposal strategy and market approach to inform decision-making
• Undertake and oversee property appraisals, including commissioning and reviewing valuations
• Use your knowledge of the commercial property market to identify opportunities and optimise outcomes
• Lead negotiations on terms of disposal to secure best consideration and manage transactional risk
• Work closely with project managers, consultants and internal services to progress assets through to disposal
• Contribute expert input into governance processes, reports and recommendations
• Build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including tenants, partners and council services

What we’re looking for

• A qualified commercial property surveyor (RICS or equivalent) with strong technical knowledge of valuation and property transactions
• Experience of delivering complex disposals or asset management activity across varied property portfolios
• Strong understanding of property markets and the ability to apply this to strategic decision-making
• Experience of negotiating property transactions and achieving best value outcomes
• Ability to provide clear, evidence-based professional advice in a governance environment
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with experience working with diverse stakeholders
