Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR professional to join our Workforce and Organisational Development team as a Medical & Dental Senior Workforce Manager.

This fixed-term opportunity offers the chance to play a key role in shaping the future of the Medical and Dental workforce, leading on strategic workforce initiatives and ensuring the Health Board continues to meet national standards and contractual requirements.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the Workforce and OD senior leadership team, you will provide expert leadership and specialist advice across all aspects of the Medical and Dental workforce agenda.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Leading the delivery of specialist Medical and Dental workforce services across the Health Board.
  • Providing expert advice on Medical and Dental terms and conditions, job planning, workforce policy and complex pay matters.
  • Ensuring compliance with national contractual obligations, such as the new Resident Doctor Contract Implementation
  • Leading the implementation of changes arising from national agreements and workforce policy developments.
  • Building strong partnerships with senior clinical leaders, operational managers, trade unions and colleagues across NHS Wales.
  • Leading workforce improvement projects, using workforce intelligence to identify efficiencies and support service transformation.
  • Managing and developing a high-performing team while promoting continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Supporting the delivery of the Health Board's Workforce Strategy.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Thorough working knowledge of Medical & Dental Terms & Conditions of service.
  • Experience of working at a high level with local and regional unions on industrial relation matters
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance on a range of workforce issues to senior managers

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of NHS/Other Public Sector employer

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Professional HR or Management Qualification at Masters level or equivalent demonstrable knowledge and extensive professional experience in the field of senior HR Management, evidence by delivery and outcomes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of a range of issues across the NHS and OD, Workforce and HR agenda

Desirable criteria

  • Membership of the CIPD
