Role Description
The Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction activities on our residential development sites. This full-time, on-site role includes managing site operations, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to Wynyard Homes’ quality standards. The role involves monitoring construction safety compliance, conducting site inspections, resolving technical and operational issues, and maintaining accurate project documentation and reports. The Construction Manager will work closely with our commercial, technical, sales, and customer service teams to support smooth handovers, address build-related queries, and uphold a high standard of customer experience throughout the construction process.
This role is based in our Newcastle upon Tyne office with frequent travel across all of our building sites.
Qualifications
- Strong supervisory skills to lead site teams, manage subcontractors, and coordinate daily construction activities.
- Experience in budgeting and project control to plan, track, and report on costs, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Solid knowledge of construction methods, building regulations, and residential development processes.
- Demonstrated commitment to construction safety, including implementation of health and safety procedures and compliance with relevant legislation.
- Previous experience in construction management or site management within the housing or residential sector.
- Relevant professional qualifications or certifications in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (e.g., HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent experience).
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and customers.
- Proficiency in using project management and site reporting tools; valid driving license and ability to travel between sites as required.
