- Co-ordinate a team to ensure the delivery of effective nursing care to patients and their families reflecting the UHD Values
- Deputize for the Ward Manager as and when required.
- Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development,
implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without
supervision.
- Provides clinical and managerial leadership to healthcare support and reception staff.
- Assist in leading and monitoring the performance and work of the Nursing Team.

Act as an effective role model for all staff.
Deliver specialised care in keeping with the needs and wishes of patients and their families.
Provide leadership and demonstrate a high quality of clinical care and practice
Liaise with other health care professionals regarding the needs of patients and implement appropriate action.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records in accordance with current practice.
Monitor and organise Bookwise and authorise room bookings for the jigsaw .
- Facilitate effective patient care in the outpatient setting.
Assist in the setting of clinical standards within the UHD trust to improve the quality of patient care.
Actively participate in clinical governance agenda and use this as a base for improving standards of care.
To actively facilitate a progressive learning environment for all grades of staff which will raise standards of professionalism and contribute to the development of nursing.
To ensure that IT training and use of different programmes is accessed safely in accordance with clinical governance.
Reporting all complaints and untoward occurrences.
- Be aware of and comply with NMC Code of Professional Conduct for Nurse, Midwives & Health Visitors.
UHD are investing, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service-specific questions at interview.
If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
