Quality Inspector Role

We are looking for a Quality Inspector to ensure that materials, coupons, test pieces and mechanical components produced within our Aerospace and Space development programmes meet our required quality standards by inspecting, measuring, and testing throughout the process. We are accredited to ISO9001 standards and are progressing towards AS9100 for Aerospace and ECSS for Space.

Additional responsibilities include supporting the Quality Manager in the development, maintenance and improvement of the compliant quality system and promotion of a quality culture across all projects throughout the organisation.

The role is on-site at our Farnborough facility, with occasional work at our Basingstoke units.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspecting and measuring parts using tools such as FARO arm to verify dimensions, tolerances, and physical characteristics against engineering drawings or specifications

  • Conducting visual inspections to identify defects, surface imperfections, or deviations from standards

  • Perform some basic lab-based testing such as tensile tests

  • Documenting findings and maintaining accurate records of inspections, measurements, and test results

  • Recommending adjustments to processes to improve overall quality and repeatability

  • Working closely with the engineering and workshop teams to ensure compliance with quality standards and continuous process improvement

  • Performing inspections at multiple stages: incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection

  • Ensuring the implementation of documentation management and recording, reviewing document and engineering drawings

  • Supporting the non-conformances/deviations/alerts/critical items control process

  • Supporting the development, maintenance and improvement of a compliant quality system and promotion a quality culture throughout the organisation

The role will report to the company Quality Manager.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Attention to detail and strong observational skills to detect defects and inconsistencies

  • Problem-solving abilities to identify issues and propose corrective actions

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, to report findings clearly and collaborate with teams

  • Technical proficiency in reading drawings, interpreting specifications, and using measurement tools

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a quality inspector position in a highly regulated environment (Aerospace, Space, defence, etc.)

  • Mechanical engineering background would be preferred

  • ISO9001 standards practical knowledge essential, AS9100 and/or ECSS would be beneficial
