Location: Peterborough (Hybrid Working)

We ask candidates within the Anglian Water region to be in the office 3 days per week. If you are based outside the region, we're happy to discuss a suitable hybrid arrangement.

As we progress through AMP8 – our most ambitious asset management period to date – we’re delivering nature-based and sustainable infrastructure, from wetlands to urban drainage schemes, setting new benchmarks for environmental performance.

As a Design Manager (Water Recycling East), you'll lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team delivering a diverse portfolio of water recycling projects across the East region. You'll drive innovative and sustainable solutions that improve wastewater treatment performance, reduce carbon, and enhance natural capital while helping to shape the future of water infrastructure across the region.

What you'll be doing

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead design delivery across a portfolio of water recycling and wastewater projects.
  • Develop and manage Engineering Project Plans covering scope, programme, cost, risk and resources.
  • Direct multi-disciplinary teams, including process, mechanical, electrical and civil engineers, to deliver high-quality design solutions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to integrate designs effectively.
  • Drive affordability, value and low-carbon, environmentally sustainable solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and lead a strong health, safety and wellbeing culture.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team.
  • Support innovation, standardisation and the use of digital engineering, including 3D modelling.
  • Work closely with wider alliance functions including delivery, procurement and construction teams to achieve successful project outcomes.

Who we're looking for

What you’ll bring:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or working towards professional chartership.
  • Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering design on capital infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of CDM regulations and design responsibilities.
  • Experience within the water sector or wider infrastructure environment.
  • Strong capability in managing risk, programme delivery and project affordability.
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration and decision-making skills.
  • A passion for sustainability, innovation and continuous improvement.
