EDM Toolmaker

The role of EDM Toolmaker

  • Maintain tools to support production and NPI projects
  • Develop new tools and modify or repair existing tooling by following detailed engineering drawings or reverse engineering parts
  • Use hand tools and machinery including lathes, presses, milling, and grinding
  • Routine maintenance on press tooling (20–300 ton press tools) — progression and second operations
  • Be involved in productivity improvement initiatives
  • Use 2D and 3D CAD software
  • Work closely with production when attending breakdowns to identify root cause and solve problems

The ideal EDM Toolmaker

  • Served within a domestic or contract toolroom
  • Experience with multi-stage progressive and second operation tooling
  • Stamping, pressing, or prototype environment experience

A manufacturing business working across multiple industries requiring an experienced Toolmaker to maintain tools for production and NPI projects.
