Job summary
This is an opportunity to join the Capital Projects Team for a short. part-time, fixed period to finalise the equipping of the new Surgical Centre building and to lead the move of three clinical departments (Critical Care, Endoscopy, General Theatres, and Surgical Admissions Lounge) from their current locations to the new building.
The appointment is for approximately 15 weeks between mid-June to the end of September 2026.
Main duties, tasks & skills required
The project is in three phases.
Phase 1 is the planning phase. The post holder is expected to spend the majority of their time on site working face-to-face with the project stakeholders to develop excellent working relationships and coordinate the development of the commissioning plan alongside the Capital Projects Clinical Planning Manager. This section is COMPLETE.
The new postholder will deliver phases 2 and 3
Phase 2 is the delivery phase. During this phase the post holder is very likely to be required on site on a daily basis to coordinate the equipping of the building and the decant of the clinical services in line with the Commissioning Plan with support from the Capital Projects Clinical Planning Manager.
Phase 3 is post completion support and evaluation. During this phase the post holder is likely to be required on site for the majority of the time to support the clinical teams and support services as they establish their services in the new environment and to evaluate the effectiveness of the equipping and decant process to identify good practice, lessons learned.

The post holder will be part of the Capital Projects team working with the senior members of the Phase 2 Surgical Centre. Playing a pivotal role in equipping of the Surgical Centre.
To work with clinical teams to appropriately relocate their services through the construction process to ensure efficiency is maintained.
To work with clinical and procurement teams to ensure that each department has equipped their areas for future demands.
Provide project support to the Capital Projects Team working on the Surgical Centre.
To take overall responsibility for delivery of equipping the Surgical Centre, considering Lean working and value for money. This will include input into business cases, service plans, and the development and implementation of a commissioning plan.
Rationalise and standardise products where this can be achieved without compromising the quality of patient care/ patient outcomes.
