We are looking for an experienced and motivated Obstetric Sonographer/Midwife Sonographer) to join our friendly and dedicated imaging team.
We are a small and busy department, proud to deliver a high quality, patient focussed Obstetric service that is continually evolving as we adapt to changing service demands. We work across 2 sites in Dumfries & Stranraer.
Motivation and ownership are key to the job role as we are a forward-looking team continually investing in practise development, to help meet the needs of the individual and the service.
We are also acutely aware that job health is important to aiding job satisfaction. To help promote this approach we endeavour to ensure booked scanning lists are realistic and we strive to continually improve practise ergonomics.
You should be an enthusiastic individual who works well as part of a team and possesses excellent communication skills. The post requires a minimum of a Post Graduate Certificate in Obstetric Ultrasound as well as evidence of Continuing Professional Development within this field.
Dumfries is located in the South West of Scotland, with an excellent reputation for its high standard of local schools, College and its University campus. Dumfries & Galloway is a popular area for many outdoor pursuits including golfing, walking, cycling and mountain biking plus much, much, more! Dumfries is a town which prides itself on its poetry and culture hosting “The Big Burns Supper” which is held annually in memory of Robert Burns.
Dumfries and Galloway is an area of outstanding beauty and whilst you’re able to enjoy the great outdoors on your doorstep, there are also excellent links to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Newcastle.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
