About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and commercially minded Shop Manager to lead and inspire our retail team in delivering a high-performing, customer-focused environment. You will drive a top-selling culture both in-store and across online selling platforms, ensuring sales targets, budgets and key performance indicators are achieved while providing exceptional customer and donor experiences. You will be responsible for creating a positive shopping environment where every interaction with customers and donors enhances relationships, builds loyalty and supports shop growth.

Working closely with the Retail Area Manager, you will develop and deliver short and medium-term shop plans, identify opportunities to increase sales and improve efficiencies, and maximise the use of EPOS and Gift Aid systems to support performance and customer insights. You will oversee merchandising and the presentation of donated stock, ensuring furniture, collectables, vintage items and clothing are displayed and marketed effectively to maximise income, including through ecommerce channels where appropriate. You will also take responsibility for shop budgets, financial controls and performance reporting, proactively managing any challenges to ensure targets remain on track.

As a leader, you will recruit, support and develop a knowledgeable and motivated team of staff and volunteers through effective induction, training, coaching and performance management, creating a culture that reflects the values and ambitions of North Yorkshire Hospice Care.

About You

You will have experience in charity, commercial or independent retail at Assistant Manager level or above, with a proven track record of achieving targets and leading teams to success. You will be an excellent communicator with strong customer service and sales skills, able to identify opportunities to increase income, improve stock management and deliver cost efficiencies.
