We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic, highly motivated, empathetic and capable Higher Level Teaching Assistant to play a key role in school. This role will involve approximately 50% class cover (with PPA time in addition to this) as well as supporting pupils in small groups in specific lessons and more general classroom teaching assistant duties.

The post is for 30 hours per week term time only (8:30 – 3.20) and is a fixed term contract for one year in the first instance but with the possibility of being extended depending on the school budget.

The successful applicant will complement the role of class teachers by:

  • Planning, preparing and delivering purposeful learning activities for individuals, small groups and whole classes.
  • Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of pupils’ progress and achievements using a range of assessments
  • Applying your understanding and knowledge in the use of a range of strategies to support classroom behaviour as a whole as well as individual behavioural needs

You will have:

  • Wide ranging experience of working with children
  • The ability to support learning in the classroom
  • Patience and the ability to relate well to children
  • A good sense of humour
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to show initiative, work independently and as part of a team
  • A willingness to work with outside agencies
  • Skills in behaviour management of children
  • A willingness to undertake any appropriate training
