Location: Heathrow

Salary: Up to £50,000 + additional benefits

Working arrangement: Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home

We are working with a growing freight forwarder looking for an experienced Ocean Freight Import/Export Operator to join their Heathrow office.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership and wants to play a key role in developing an expanding operation. With a particular focus on ocean exports, you will manage shipments from start to finish and help shape the ocean freight function as the business grows.

The Role

• Manage ocean freight import and export shipments from initial booking through to final delivery.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, overseas agents, hauliers and customers to ensure shipments move smoothly.
• Prepare and check shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customer instructions.
• Arrange collections and deliveries, coordinating customs clearance where required.
• Provide proactive shipment updates and resolve operational queries.
• Obtain rates, prepare quotations and support customer enquiries.
• Manage shipment costing and invoicing, maintaining accurate operational records.
• Help develop processes and build strong customer and supplier relationships as the office expands.

About You

• A few years’ experience in ocean freight operations within a freight forwarding environment.
• Confident managing shipments independently from start to finish, ideally with a strong export background.
• Good knowledge of ocean freight documentation, shipping procedures and Incoterms.
• Strong communication, organisation and customer service skills.
• A proactive approach and the confidence to take responsibility in a growing business.
• A start-up mentality, with an appetite to contribute ideas and help develop the operation.
