Role Description

The Information Technology Project Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Bury, responsible for delivering and supporting IT projects for business clients. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and implementing infrastructure solutions, configuring servers, networks, and cloud platforms, and ensuring secure, reliable operation of customer environments. The role involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues, providing hands-on technical support, and collaborating with the helpdesk team for escalations and complex troubleshooting. The Project Engineer will manage project tasks, maintain documentation, and communicate clearly with clients regarding progress, risks, and timelines. The position also requires contributing to continuous improvement of deployment processes, adhering to security and compliance standards, and occasionally assisting with installation of hardware, software, and network equipment on client sites.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience as a project engineer in an MSP. You've scoped, planned, delivered and handed over projects for multiple customers, often at the same time.
  • You live in the UK, within about an hour of Rawtenstall. Our office and many customer sites are in the North West, so you'll need to get there comfortably. (That includes places like Manchester, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale, Burnley, Blackburn, Preston, Wigan, Halifax and Huddersfield.)
  • Hands-on time with some or all of our stack. Microsoft 365 and Intune, Cloudflare, Huntress, Acronis, Hyper-V and firewalls count for the most.
  • Clear communication. You can explain a change to a customer's MD as well as to their IT lead, and you write documentation others can follow.
  • The right to work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Microsoft certifications, or working towards them
  • PowerShell or other scripting for automation
  • An interest in using AI tools to make engineering work faster and more reliable
  • A full UK driving licence
