Fortune Technologies Limited’s client, a leading insurance company, seeks a Graduate Trainee to join its underwriting team, underwriting new and renewal business under the guidance of senior underwriters.

Role Summary

Identify and assist in underwriting profitable accounts under the guidance of senior Underwriters in the Accident & Health department. Assists manage business portfolio by continuous growth of producer relationships under direction. Assist in the efficient management of business documents and workflow in line with operational and underwriting guidelines & procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Underwriting

• Underwrite new and renewal business under supervision of a Senior Underwriter.
• Assist Senior Underwriters with new business quotes, and queries.
• Capture all relevant risk information into client’s appropriate systems, ensuring compliance.

Business Development and Retention

• Seek opportunities to improve synergies and participate in cross-sell initiatives within the Profit Centre
• Develop and maintain strong personal and professional relationships with Colleagues, Clients, and business intermediaries.

Business Operations

• Manage assigned accounts, ensuring efficient document workflow in line with operational procedures.
• Adhere to internal SLAs to ensure operational efficiency and achievement of agreed customer service standards.

Audit and Compliance

• Ensure adherence to business rules and guidelines.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements.

Requirements & Qualifications

• University Graduate – Actuarial, Risk or any business degree
• Professional Qualifications – progress towards a Diploma in Insurance will be an advantage
• Graduated within the last 2 years

Key Skills & Competencies

• Previous experience gained in an insurance environment will be an added advantage
• Good communication skills, written and verbal.
• Working knowledge of MS Office
• Creative and pragmatic approach to problem solving
