Cloud Platform Manager (Azure)
Location: Derbyshire
Working pattern: Hybrid, 1–2 days a week in the office
Salary: £75,000 – £85,000 + benefits
Type: Permanent, full time
Amtis is partnering with a leading UK business whose technology supports individuals across the country. They are looking for a Cloud Platform / Infrastructure Manager to take their Azure estate to the next level, and to build the team that runs it.
The opportunity
The organisation moved to Azure through a lift-and-shift migration. The next step is turning that estate into a secure, resilient, scalable and cost-conscious cloud platform built on cloud-native ways of working.
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Operations, you will lead an infrastructure team of 8+ and own the operation, governance and modernisation of the Azure platform. This is a genuine transformation role. You will balance modernisation with the operational stability that patient-facing services depend on.
What you will be doing
- Run a reliable platform: own the availability, performance and resilience of Azure services, including monitoring, incident and problem management, backup, DR and resilience testing.
- Modernise: move suitable lifted-and-shifted workloads towards PaaS, serverless and containers where there is a clear operational, security or business benefit.
- Engineer for scale: build landing zone standards, reusable Infrastructure as Code patterns and deployment pipelines, making Terraform, GitOps and automation-first delivery the norm.
- Govern and secure: own Azure governance (management groups, policy-as-code, tagging, access and guardrails) and work with Security to meet zero trust and healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Drive cost-aware engineering: partner with FinOps and Finance on consumption insight, right-sizing, reservations and savings plans.
- Lead and develop the team: coach a team of 8+ through the shift to cloud-native operations with learning plans, hands-on labs and certification roadmaps, and manage cloud suppliers.
What you will bring
- 5+ years of hands-on cloud infrastructure experience with deep Azure expertise, including at least 2 years leading cloud transformation (not just migration).
- Strong Infrastructure as Code skills (Terraform preferred, or Bicep/ARM), Azure DevOps / CI/CD pipeline design, and scripting in PowerShell or Python.
- Broad Azure knowledge across PaaS, AKS and containers, networking (vWAN, Private Endpoints, Front Door, Application Gateway) and identity and security (Entra ID, Key Vault, Defender for Cloud).
- Cloud-native monitoring and observability (Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics) and a grounding in DevOps / SRE practices.
- Experience supporting cloud cost optimisation and governance alongside Finance, Procurement or a FinOps function.
- Proven people leadership. You are a change agent with a teacher mindset who can make cloud concepts click for traditional IT teams and present confidently to stakeholders.
- Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or equivalent experience.
Desirable
AZ-400, AZ-500, FinOps Certified Practitioner, CKA/CKAD or Terraform Associate certifications; experience in healthcare or another regulated industry (NHS DSP Toolkit, GDPR); multi-cloud (AWS/GCP) exposure.
Why apply?
- A real transformation mandate: shaping the platform, not just keeping the lights on.
- Lead and grow a team of 8+ engineers.
- Work that matters, with technology that directly supports patient care.
- Hybrid working with just 1–2 days a week in the office.
