Job Overview
The successful post holder will be a highly motivated team player ideally with previous medical secretarial experience and possess sound administrative and clerical skills.
Excellent computer literacy is essential for the role, which will include the use of Microsoft Office packages, Med Secs, CWS and relevant databases. You will be highly organised, self motivated, have a flexible approach to work and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A clear understanding of patient confidentiality and being able to work to deadlines is also required. The role will include general support of typing including, audio typing, digital dictation and administrative duties, including cover for colleagues at times of service need.
Main duties of the job
The typing of correspondence, clinic letters and reports accurately and within time limits set by departmental standards, thus requiring a high degree of keyboard skills, medical terminology and secretarial procedures.
Audio typing any other correspondence as required, letters and reports can relate to all aspects of surgery and knowledge of medical terminology is necessary. This will sometimes involve typing letters of a distressing nature.
Keeping consultant’s diary electronically and arranging meetings as and when required and ensuring your consultants is fully briefed of any upcoming commitments.
Responsible for monitoring annual leave and study leave of consultants and Junior Doctors, on behalf of the Clinical Director, ensuring relevant colleagues are updated with leave requests.
Taking minutes of departmental meetings including coordination of meetings so clear and concise communication is required.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
