Nurse the Way You Trained To.

Salary Up to £32,000 DOE Contract Permanent Working hours 40 hours per week, across 4 days Location Sevenoaks, TN13 Closing Date: 30 November 2026, midday

A clinically led independent, where good ideas actually go somewhere.

Remember why you became a vet nurse? Not to fill syringes and fetch the next patient, but to use your skills, your judgement and your voice. If you’ve been waiting for a practice that actually lets you nurse, keep reading.

We’re looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Sevenoaks. Whether you’re a few years in or a seasoned pro, you’ll be trusted to use your full skill set, supported to keep growing, and part of a team that genuinely has each other’s backs.

What The Role Looks Like

No two days are the same. You’ll be monitoring anaesthetics, caring for inpatients, running nurse clinics, supporting in theatre and helping owners feel confident about their pet’s care. Your clinical judgement will matter here: this is nursing where you’re trusted to think, not just follow.

The kit to do it properly

Digital cytology, in-house labs, dental X-ray and ultrasound give you the tools to nurse at your best. When a case needs more, our purpose-built hospital in Sevenoaks has three theatres, separate species wards and full imaging including CT and MRI, all shared with RCVS-recognised specialists at South East Veterinary Referrals. Most of our clients have unlimited consults, too, so you’ll get to know patients properly and build real continuity of care.

Why independent matters

We’re independent and clinically led. If you’ve got an idea for doing something better, we want to hear it. There’s no multi-layered approval chain, and nobody treats you like you can’t be trusted with grown-up decisions. We’re also quick to invest in new tech and equipment when it makes life better.

You’ll fit right in if you…

  • Are an RVN (or about to qualify) who takes pride in high standards of patient care
  • Like being trusted to use your clinical judgement and speak up for your patients
  • Communicate clearly and kindly, with owners, vets and the rest of the team
  • Stay steady when things get busy, and keep a sense of humour while you’re at it
  • Want to keep growing, whether that’s a certificate, a new skill or a clinical area you’d love to own one day

What’s In It For You

  • A real stake: at Pennard Vets, every member of the team is an employee owner of the practice
  • CPD: unlimited (subject to Director approval), with support for certificate study
  • Fees: professional fees covered, including RCVS and VDS
  • Leave: 5 weeks’ holiday plus bank holidays, rising by an extra week after 5 years, and your birthday off if you’re rota’d to work
  • Health: Medicash health cash plan for you and your family, covering things like dental and optical (after probation)
  • Security: pension scheme (after 6 months) and Group Life Assurance worth 4× salary, including access to specialist bereavement counselling
  • Wellbeing: Employee Assistance Programme, trained Mental Health First Aiders on site, and free access to Vetlife
  • Family: enhanced maternity, paternity and shared parental pay (after 2 years’ service)
  • Pets: optional staff Pet Health Care Scheme (£11/month for cats, £11.50/month for dogs)
  • Refer-a-friend bonus if you bring someone great with you
