Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic
General Operative – Telehandler to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
What you'll be doing
Telehandler Operation
- Operate telehandler plant in line with site plans, lift plans, and manufacturer guidelines
- Safely transport materials, equipment, and supplies across site
- Load and unload deliveries in coordination with logistics and site teams
- Conduct daily pre-use checks and basic maintenance of equipment
- Ensure all lifting operations are carried out safely and within agreed procedures
- Work closely with banksmen/traffic marshals to maintain safe movements
General Operative Duties (as required)
- Support day-to-day site operations across mechanical, electrical and construction activities
- Assist trades with material handling, preparation, and installation support
- Maintain site housekeeping standards across work areas
- Support logistics, stores, and laydown area organisation
- Carry out manual handling tasks in line with training
- Follow site procedures, permits, and method statements
Key Accountabilities
- Safe operation of plant at all times
- Flexibility to transition between telehandler and general operative duties
- Supporting efficient material flow and site productivity
- Adherence to all health, safety, and environmental standards
Who we're looking for
The following experience/qualifications are required: -
- Valid CPCS or NPORS Telehandler ticket
- Valid CSCS Card
- Proven experience operating telehandlers on construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of lifting operations and site safety
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
- Additional plant tickets (e.g. banksman/slinger)
