Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic

General Operative – Traffic Marshall to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

What you'll be doing

General Operative Duties

• Support day-to-day site operations across mechanical, electrical and construction activities
• Assist skilled trades with material handling, preparation, and basic installation support
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping across all work areas
• Load/unload, move, and store materials in line with site requirements
• Support logistics, stores, and laydown area organisation
• Follow all site procedures, permits, and method statements
• Actively contribute to a safe working environment and intervene where unsafe behaviours are

observed

Traffic Marshalling Duties (as required)

• Control vehicle movements on site in line with approved traffic management plans
• Safely guide delivery vehicles and plant to designated areas
• Ensure segregation of pedestrians and vehicles at all times
• Communicate clearly with drivers, plant operators, and site teams
• Monitor access/egress points and maintain traffic flow efficiency
• Report any incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately

Key Accountabilities

• Safety compliance at all times, in line with project and statutory requirements
• Flexibility to move between traffic marshalling and general operative duties
• Maintaining productivity and supporting programme delivery
• Upholding site standards and behaviours aligned to project expectations

Who we're looking for

The Following Experience/qualifications Are Required

• Valid CSCS Card (General Operative/Labourer or equivalent)
• Traffic Marshal / Vehicle Banksman qualification
• Previous experience working on construction or infrastructure sites
• Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards
• Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions

Desirable

• Experience on large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
• Manual handling training
• Experience supporting mechanical or electrical installation teams
• Knowledge of site logistics and materials control
