About The Role
We are looking for a friendly and reliable Catering Assistant to join our on-site catering team and help deliver a high-quality, customer-focused food service for students, staff and visitors. This is a hands-on role where you will support food preparation, service and cleanliness across our catering facilities, playing an important part in creating a welcoming and safe environment within our colleges.
Please note: This is for a September 2026 start
Actual Salary: £13,966.24 per annum
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (9am to 2pm)
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation, cooking and service of food, snacks and drinks
- Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and food hygiene in kitchens and dining areas
- Providing a prompt, professional and welcoming service to all customers
- Being visible and approachable during service periods, with good knowledge of menu items
- Working positively as part of the catering team and supporting colleagues as required
- Reporting customer feedback, requests and complaints to the Catering Manager
- Supporting students on placement within the catering environment
- Undertaking mandatory training and contributing to personal development
Essential Criteria
- Experience of food preparation and catering service, or relevant transferable experience
- A commitment to delivering excellent customer service
- Knowledge of, or willingness to work towards, a food hygiene qualification
- Ability to work well as part of a team in a busy environment
- A flexible approach to working hours across college sites

The LET’s Bloom Programme aims to connect our experienced and qualified teachers to share best practice and support continued risk-taking as we continue to add depth to our teaching craft. Teachers volunteer on this one year programme, working closely with the Learning Enhancement Team, capturing their experimentation in a journal.
