The Opportunity
Join our 2027 (Autumn) Graduate Programme as a Graduate Civil Engineer in our Newcastle office, where you will be part of a market-leading Buildings discipline.
You'll be part of a local team of 8 engineers, ranging from graduates through to experienced professionals, creating a supportive environment where learning and development are encouraged. Day-to-day, you'll have access to guidance from senior engineers and mentors who can provide technical support, advice, and coaching as you develop your skills and experience.
The team works closely with colleagues in th e Leeds office as part of the wider North East Region, providing opportunities to collaborate across offices and disciplines, as well as interacting regularly with multidisciplinary teams from across the business.

We're looking for graduates with a passion for the built environment, and the desire to work in a highly collaborative multi-disciplinary team focused on sustainability, technical excellence and shaping construction in the UK and overseas.

About The Role
You'll get involved the the following:
- Project work at concept and scheme design, modelling, detailed design and specification and drawing
- Preparation of reports, providing advice and guidance to clients and project teams
- Undertaking STEM engagement activities
- Liaising with internal and external team members, developing relationships and people skills
- Managing your own workload to meet project deadlines
- Engaging with the wider C&S division, the Technical leadership Team and Carbon Task Force to exchange best practice and processes and support on-going initiatives
- Arranging and attending meetings, taking minutes and distributing actions
- Attending and contributing to project team meetings
- Attending site to undertake inspections and walkovers
- Developing commercial awareness by assisting with preparation of proposals/tenders for new work
We are committed to supporting employees in achieving relevant professional qualifications and accreditation. The applicable professional qualification for this role is IEng or CEng status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

Working across a range of projects, you will support the design and delivery of safe, efficient and future-ready buildings, helping clients reduce environmental impact, enhance building performance and create spaces that improve the wellbeing of those who use them. Your work will contribute to sustainable development goals, support the efficient use of resources, and help deliver innovative solutions that meet the needs of both clients and local communities.
About You
At Stantec, we value your potential over past experience. Along with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a knowledge of AutoCAD (ideally Civils 3D) would be beneficial, and a keen interest in working in the Buildings sector, you'll be:

Please note, we ask our graduates to come into the office 4 days per week, to ensure that you receive sufficient time with your team and receive the appropriate level of support.
