Job Description

GWM provides advice, strategies and solutions for all aspects of the financial, asset management and wealth transfer needs of high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients. The GWM Credit Risk Officer Role is a high visibility role with interactions with senior stakeholders within the business and Credit Risk. The Credit Risk Officer will be based in London and responsible for assessing and approving/declining requests and managing overall credit risk in the assigned portfolio

Key responsibilities :

  • Provide WM Credit Risk oversight for selected EMEA markets conducted out of London
  • Manage the end-to-end credit relationship for a diverse portfolio of clients, including existing and new transactions; such transactions to include securities-based lending, structured lending / specialty lending, mortgages and derivatives
  • Work closely with and provide credible challenge to Lending Solutions team, and partner with Credit Underwriting team (London/ Luxembourg/Mumbai) to execute on regional lending strategy for WM
  • Responsible for the accurate, timely and consistent assignment of risk ratings for all clients and collateral
  • Ensure all credit exposure is structured, documented and approved in accordance with credit risk policy, procedures and risk appetite
  • Monitor WM credit risk metrics, limits and indicators, as well as all exception reports produced by Credit Middle Office (CMO), approve resolution plans and escalate potential problems
  • Liaise with the WM Policy team and contribute to discussions on credit risk policy, procedures and risk appetites to ensure that any guidelines/limits/thresholds established accurately reflect the EMEA ex-Geneva lending business and credit risk activities
  • Respond to ad-hoc queries from internal (senior management) and external stakeholders (regulators)

Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Economics, Accounting, Finance or Business Management
  • Significant relevant experience (minimum of five years) of credit risk management or related discipline in a top tier banking environment, preferably in wealth management
  • Strong analytical and credit skills
  • Strong decision making capabilities and the ability to identify problems and propose solutions
  • Ability to operate independently with confidence to interact credibly with senior business stakeholders
  • Outstanding attention to detail and ability to learn complex processes that affect various functions and business units within Credit Risk Management
  • Highly organized, motivated and hard working with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
